Brightree, owned by ResMed, is the most widely deployed HME/DME platform in the US. Most suppliers evaluating a switch are leaving it, which means “Brightree alternatives” is really a question about what you’re trying to fix — pricing, architecture, workflow depth, or specialty fit.
The alternatives sort into four groups.
Cloud-native all-in-one platforms
Built after the cloud, not migrated to it. Billing, inventory, order management, delivery, and RCM share a single record.
NikoHealth
Cloud-native, all-in-one, with native iOS and Android delivery apps. Commonly evaluated by suppliers who want modern UX and transparent pricing.
Nymbl Systems
Cloud-native practice management with particular strength in orthotics and prosthetics and complex rehab technology. If your mix leans O&P or CRT alongside DME, Nymbl is a closer fit than most general DME platforms.
Curasev
Skillman, NJ. Founded 2017, positioned around AI-assisted intake and billing automation.
ERP-depth platforms for established providers
Bonafide
Thousand Oaks, CA, acquired by WellSky in October 2024. ERP-style workflow management across intake, RCM, documentation, inventory, and supply chain. The open question for anyone evaluating it now is how roadmap priorities settle under WellSky ownership.
TIMS Software
The company has been in this market since 1978. Deep serialized inventory, warehouse management, and asset control. Suits asset-heavy operations. Compare deployment models directly if cloud-native architecture matters to you.
Adjacent-line platforms
WellSky CareTend
Originally built for home infusion and specialty pharmacy, with DME and HME capability. Right answer if you run infusion alongside equipment. Wrong answer if you don’t.
Billing-focused independents
DMEworks and TeamDME! — smaller footprint, billing-centric. Lower cost of entry. You’ll likely run separate inventory and delivery tooling.
If you’re leaving Brightree because of… | Look at |
Pricing that scales with patient count | Cloud-native independents |
Dated interface, long staff onboarding | Cloud-native all-in-one |
O&P or complex rehab in your product mix | Nymbl |
Serialized asset and warehouse depth | TIMS |
Home infusion running alongside DME | WellSky CareTend |
Wanting fewer systems, not more | All-in-one, not billing-only |
What actually matters in the comparison
Every vendor on this list will demo well. The differences surface in three places: whether capped rental month position survives migration, whether the system blocks a claim without proof of delivery, and what “data migration” includes — active rentals, AR, and historical documentation, or just the patient list.
Ask each vendor the same three questions. Ask what their last three implementations actually took, in weeks. Ask to talk to one of those customers.
